I discovered this song after Songs From The Big Chair broke big in the U.S. They were a very successful group that never seemed to get it’s due despite huge album sales.
Everybody Wants To Rule The World seemed to be a song no one was making at that time in the ’80s. Very post-punk and not quite new wave.
Thanks for reminding me about them.

Well, allow me to be the hipster around here. They’re from my home town and yes, I did see them before you’d heard of them. They played “The Bell”.
They improved after that gig, it has to be said.

I find this version far superior to the one that “broke through” to my generation, the one featured in the film Donnie Darko.
Although to be fair, it was that later version that led me to the original, and which introduced me to Tears for Fears.
So there you go.
