Maybe when he was at the Divinity School, he took some courses at HLS and learned his plagiarist trade there. Lots of good mentors.

“Another”? Surely you’re not referring to Kristof as a “lefty”?

I meant more Somaly Mam….

Not to be nitpicky about a throwaway headline, but Mam doesn’t make any sense either, unless you think Sheryl Sandberg and Glamour magazine define the left. Most of the left that I’m familiar with defends sex workers and thinks of international concern about sex trafficking as neo-colonialism promoted by the State Department. The kind of work Mam did found much more support from faith groups on the right than from feminist groups on the left.

That’s a fair point, mad at-er.
By the way, I’ve always wondered: Could you explain your moniker?

I think it started around Skip Gates’s arrest in 2009 when, in the course of a very long discussion, I was responding anonymously by using the at-symbol to indicate which comment I was replying to (perhaps this thread, though were a bunch around then). That quickly became cumbersome and probably also confused people, so I switched to using a consistent pseudonym that was derived from that habit.

That’s a fun thread to read again.

Yes, SE, fun thread from the usual suspects.

Nat Hentoff is a ‘liberal crusader’.
Chris Hedges has long been aught but a peculiarly obnoxious and episodically vulgar member of those Thomas Sowell called ‘the Anointed’ and Paul Hollander called ‘Political Pilgrims’. He’s more eclectic and vaguely protestant and has more of a social worker’s impulse in him than the more forthright pinkos who usually write for The Nation. It takes a special sort of stupid to upchuck a gem like this:

You people need to promote your actual talent (e.g. Harold Pollack). Hedges ain’t it.
