How Broke is Harvard Donor Buddy Fletcher?

The Journal reports that his race discrimination lawsuit against the Dakota, the building he sued because it turned down his application to purchase an apartment he clearly could not afford, is on the rocks: Fletcher hasn’t paid his law firm since April, and it has terminated its pursuit of the case.
In a filing Friday, Kasowitz Benson Torres & Friedman LLP asked to withdraw from the case, citing “non-payment of very substantial legal fees” by Alphonse Fletcher Jr. and his hedge-fund firm, Fletcher Asset Management.
..At the end of June, a major Fletcher fund, Fletcher International Ltd., filed for bankruptcy-court protection in Manhattan. Control of the fund has been turned over to a court-appointed trustee.
That bankruptcy-court filing in June lists the Kasowitz firm as the fifth-largest creditor of Fletcher International Ltd., with a claim of $293,517.
The Journal doesn’t note that this is the fourth or fifth law firm Fletcher has burned through…
I still wonder: At what point will Harvard be forced to reconsider the Alphonse Fletcher Jr. University Professorship, so visibly held by Skip Gates?

…and I’m still amazed that no one has picked up on the story that Buddy’s largest creditor is apparently a law firm whose partner on the case was Buddy’s old Harvard girlfriend, Alicia Batts (née Batty). Talk about leaving your date at the table to pick up the bill…stiffed!

Buddy had a Harvard girlfriend?? Then how did he convince the Air Force that he was gay and couldn’t serve the required 5 years, after taxpayers (Air Force ROTC) gave him a full ride at Harvard?

Buddy had at least two girlfriends at Harvard. I was his roommate and can name both of them. The one above is the one he stiffed with the legal bills. The other one was Asian (name withheld however). As for being gay, he spent a lot of his time as my roommate making off-color jokes about, uh, “fudge packers” as he colloquially and quaintly referred to them. Esse quam videri…

Buddy is crazy and sneaky and distrustful. I worked for him for quite a while, so I can tell you this first-hand. I can’t wait for the day I can remove that embarassment from my resume. Karma is kicking him in the ass right now. Oh, poor Buddy… The world is out to get him… He’s an innocent man. Everyone tries to take advantage of him. Oh what a cruel, cruel world!
Note to Buddy: GET OVER YOURSELF.

Frankly, Buddy would have been brought to the justice he so richly deserves- and I believe will get- if all of us who witnessed what was going on, and who suffered for it, had spoken up publicly sooner. We are all, in some way, to blame for letting things progress when we knew better. Those who were there and fought back, but then agreed to Fletcher’s confideniality agreements and sealed documents, should have had the courage to speak out sooner. But yes, Anonymous, Karma is coming like a train down the track. And Buddy, as he can testify himself, won’t be missing any trains ;))
