Right, let’s be like NY, and reserve racist behavior for the police.

As opposed to Boston cops, who would never, ever racial profile?

The tweets and other comments are vile and the people who wrote them are despicable. That said, your broad generalizations about an entire city seems odd from someone who writes so much about journalistic integrity. No doubt there are far more people in Boston who are appalled at the comments from these idiots than who support them, yet you still choose to paint with a broad (and inaccurate) brush. And, by the way, I think it’s inappropriate that the Times mentions Bill Russell’s comments from 50 years ago, but doesn’t mention his more recent comments in which he talks about how much the city has changed. (I know, this puts you in a tough position-your hatred of the Times vs. your hatred of Boston.)

Mike-I actually agree with most of what you say-of course the vast majority of Bostonians don’t feel that way. That said, there remains this vein of really deep-rooted racism in Boston that just won’t go away, and I suspect you find more of it at hockey games than Celtics games, for example. (But you know, I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a black fan at Fenway…)
I’d agree with you about the Times-bit of a cheap shot there.
Maybe the issue is really race and hockey, not race and Boston…
