I don’t agree. I think it’s actually incredibly diluted Chris Rock. At no point does he acknowledge the realities about racism that create the fear that causes people to do dumb things when they feel threatened by police.
The same skit could have been written by Glenn Beck, and then we would find it reactionary and offensive.

Oh, I think it’s more balanced than that….

Okay, why?
The butt of the joke (and of the nightstick) is consistently the black guy who does dumb stuff and gets beat up. Where is the part where the white guy is the butt of the joke?

Don’t you think that the image of all those white cops who just can’t wait to beat on the guy is funny?
(I know that sounds odd, but the whole premise of the video is that if you’re a black guy and you give white cops the slightest reason to pound on you, they will. None of the, um, black humor works without that premise.)

Okay, yeah, that was the best reply available to you, but it’s less than 10% of the humor in the bit I’d say. The butt of the joke is the black guy who acts out. Notably too the white friend is the only one who’s supposedly capable of “shutting the f- up” and being respectful.

I agree 100% with SE. Not even funny as well.

Well, your gripe then is with Chris Rock, not me!

No Rich, You had the audacity to think that Chris Rock’s skit was funny. You should immediately apologize for having a sense of humor.

I didn’t say it wasn’t funny. But I think ‘brilliant’ is not the word.

Yes, Richard. Say you are sorry.
Say : I’m sorry for having a sense of humor.

I apologize deeply for laughing at this and at most other Chris Rock skits.
