The House that ‘roids Built

Read this and you’ll see why I continue to harp on David Ortiz’s possible steroid use. If you listen to Red Sox fans, they’re apparently the only team in all of baseball without a single player who took steroids.
It’s the sanctimony that gets me….
Because if the new Yankee Stadium is the “House that ‘roids Built,” then wouldn’t 2004 be the championship that ‘roids produced?

Why, Richard? Why isn’t it possible that the most virtuous team in baseball is the Red Sox?

No, it really isn’t.

The dream of every Red Sox fan is to get a Yankees fan mad. You are playing into that guy’s hands!
And your list of Yankee vulnerabilities is incomplete. Wasn’t it a great Yankee who said, “Half the game is 100% mental”? If Girardi doesn’t have Pettitte pitching from the windup, with a shift on to the left-handed hitter, Francona doesn’t send Ellsbury. That play seemed to deflate the Yankees and take all the tension out of the game — without that play, it’s hard to imagine 2 Red Sox pitchers with a combined 1 inning of MLB experience between them setting down 8 Yankees in a row, including strikeouts to Jeter and Cano.
In the NE edition of the NYT anyway, that game was on D-5, with D-1 having stories on NASCAR, the Kentucky Derby, and the NFL draft. Huh?
To be sure, it’s a long season and the worm will turn — the Yankees are not that bad and the Red Sox are not that good.
Good column Sunday in the NYT about Yankee Stadium and Fenway Park, by the way.

Harry, I agree with all of this. And I read that Sunday column about Fenway. Truth is, I am very worried that this Stadium will bring upon the Yankees decades of bad mojo.

So the Red Sox lose about 100 years in a row and then have a few good years. That does not a storied team make. I listened to Yankees on the radio in the World Series when I was 12 (I’m retired now) and I fully expect to be watching the Yankees in the World Series before I die. Didn’t even know a team called the Red Sox existed until they won in 2004? (Sorry, I’m Canadian). Like that’s a dynasty? A storied team?
