The Phillies Win. Whatever.

Apologies to Philadelphians, but…does anyone else care?
This World Series felt deeply anti-climactic. Two small market teams, a measly five games, one of which was interrupted by rain, no memorable moments particularly.
Can’t wait for spring training, when the Yankees and the Red Sox get to go at it again!

How exactly is Philadelphia a small market?

You’re right, Pul-leaze-Philly’s not really a small market. It just feels that way.

One was a tie and one was only three innings.

You’ve shown once again that you are a Yankees fan, not a baseball fan. Boswell called last night’s game a “mini masterpiece” and that’s about right. It was a thrilling game, and a pretty good series. Except for the blowout game, they were all close, if I recall.
I mean, if you don’t live in NY or Boston, who cares about the Yankees or Red Sox. Answer: you don’t! Since 2001, we’ve living in one of the great eras in baseball history, with no domination by any one team, and new world champs every year (almost). I, for one, am thrilled to be watching it, even if my team has not been one of them.

Boswell does what Boswell does, and that’s wax rhapsodic, justified or no.
As for the Series, I disagree. The Rays played poorly, the umpires were terrible, the games started way too late—game 3 ended at 1:45 AM!—Bud Selig was his usual boneheaded self…(What if Carlos Pena hadn’t hit that single? The Phillies would have won the Series in a game called after the 5th.)
I appreciate the romance of Philly winning, but no one will ever say that this was a captivating Series.
