Andrew Sullivan says the person in the video below shouts “redistributor!”, not something else.
Hope so.

Isn’t “redistributor” just a code word for black? Once again, racism rears its ugly head in the McCain/Palin campaign.

No, it is not a code word for black. McCain has labeled Barack as a “redistributor” in regard to wealth.

I think that puh-lease was being sarcastic, Anon. I will say, though, that McCain’s efforts to call Obama’s proposed social programs “welfare” does count as a code word associated with black people.

What strikes me about the video is how stilted Palin seems, giving this speech. She keeps having to look down and consequently there’s no flow, no rhythm. I guess that’s what happens when you don’t understand the words you’re saying.

I’m white. I was on welfare. I grew uo on welfare. Unfortunately, I knew many white people on welfare. So I assure you, welfare is not a code word for black. That’s a very sheltered and limited point of view.

I just had a laugh because I realized my post held some notes of the Bentsen/Quayle debate
- Senator, I served with Jack Kennedy: I knew Jack Kennedy; Jack Kennedy was a friend of mine. Senator, you’re no Jack Kennedy.

I was anon 5:08. I have some interest in this subject so I’ll sign this, even though I have no time. Just did a quick search on what the black vs. white ratio was on welfare. This is what I found.
It’s something like 38% white / 37% black / 17% Hispanic / Other 6%. Blacks make up 12% of the U.S. population. While there are more whites on welfare than blacks, the percentage of the black population on welfare is greater than the percentage of the white population on welfare.
One in three food stamp households is headed by an African American. More than a third of food stamp benefits — over $10 billion per year — are issued to African-Americans. (According to Census data, African Americans make up about 12 percent of the U.S. population.)
Nearly 9 million African Americans receive food stamps each month. This represents a quarter of the African American population.

So the Myth is : People on welfare are usually black, teenage mothers who stay on ten years at a time, but the fact is: Most welfare recipients are non-black, adult and on welfare less than two years at a time.

No problem, btw, Richard, if you don’t want to post that info I sent. Might be inflammatory. Wasn’t written well, but the general content I think is interesting. See ya.
