Another Harvardian Busted

This time it’s Rudy Giuliani’s daughter, Caroline Giuliani, a.k.a. Caroline Hanover when she’s mad at her dad.
The Harvard student was arrested for shoplifting about $100 worth of makeup from a Sephora on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
As the Wall Street Journal reports,
According to online announcements of campus productions, Caroline Giuliani is heavily involved in theater at Harvard, directing a play called “Fat Men in Skirts,” and raised some eyebrows earlier this year when she acted in a show called “Ivory Tower,” a bawdy version of the television show “Dawson’s Creek.” She also played the lead role in “The Glass Menagerie.”
One thing you can say about Rudy, who’s one of the world’s most awful people: His kids can’t stand him. Which kind of makes you like them!
…at Ms. Giuliani’s high-school graduation, Mr. Giuliani and his third wife, Judith, sat in the last row of the balcony. Mr. Giuliani left when the ceremony ended without speaking to his daughter. “This is a great day,” Caroline Giuliani told the Daily News then. “I am celebrating with my mom, my stepfather, my brother and other family friends.”
The tough-on-crime former mayor had this to say:
Rudy Giuliani, who did not come to the station house, said through a spokeswoman, “This is a personal matter, and Mayor Giuliani asks the media to respect the privacy of his daughter at this time.”
Which is hilarious, because a) no one publicly humiliated alleged criminals more than Rudy Giuliani, who invented the Wall Street perp walk; and b) since when did an adult committing a crime become “a personal matter”?
Rudy Giuliani: Terrible person.
Another awful thing about this incident: The folks at Sephora were all set to bust Giuliani and had called the cops—but when they found out she was Rudy’s daughter, they tried to cancel the call. It was too late, but still…gross.

First time I’ve ever heard long-running “Ivory Tower” compared to “Dawson’s Creek.” More like a pastiche of old fashioned daytime soaps than any ’90s teen angst. You’d think the appropriate contemporary reference would be “Gossip Girl.”

The sections on Larry Summers in this review are just brutal: http://www.nybooks.com/articles/archives/2010/aug/19/why-has-he-fallen-short/?page=1
Very disturbing.
