  Here She Is...
The face transplant recipient....


She apparently agreed to be photographed by the Sunday Times of London...

I don't know what to say about this, except that the woman looks haunted to me, and reading the attached Times story left me seriously queasy -- though I can't say exactly why. (The fact that both she and her donor were suicidal? The moral issues the doctors may have glossed over? The graphic description of her pre-op "face"? The apparent emptiness of her hospital days post-op? The thought of how her daughters feel about her?) This whole thing appears to be a bit of unpleasantness I'd just as soon not know anything (or anything more) about. I suppose that's wrong of me, but there it is.

I understand the feeling. The photo does look odd, doesn't it? Like this is a person who has two distinct faces—which, in fact, she does.

I wonder what she looked like before....
