No Sex Please, We’re Yalies

The university has officially (finally?) banned faculty-student sex.
Which will almost certainly lead to a surge in role-playing!
The new policy, announced to faculty in November and incorporated into the updated faculty handbook in January, is “an idea whose time has come,” says Deputy Provost Charles Long, who has advocated the ban since 1983.
Or, apparently, not.

As the product of a faculty-student relationship, I view these sorts of policies dimly. There are issues that need to be monitored, but isn’t there a sufficient police-state vigilance with respect to such matters already in place on campuses?

12:15 p.m. I’m unclear on your message. Are you the child of a faculty-student relationship, or are you the faculty or the student?

I can see the point of such a rule for students who are taking a class currently from said faculty member. I cannot see the point of banning all students from dating all faculty, just the ones who have the power to grade them.

Good policy. I’m glad.

Now that they’ve officially banned it, there’s only going to be more it.
