  Change is Gonna Come
Big news, folks: After three years, RichardBradley.net is getting a makeover.

In honor of The Greatest Game coming out, I'm working with a web designer to give the site a new look.

But I need your help. What do you like about the site? What can't you stand? What would make it better for you?

Comments, advice, constructive criticism....all are welcome.

Leaving Blogger behind?

Make sure the tab says "RichardBradley" or some such instead of "Untitled Document"... very irritating.

I don't like the pic with Barbara W. not very good resolution. The other ones are nice

Actually, yeah, I'm not a fan of that Barbara Walters pic either. The original designer posted it. (Not that I'm criticizing, he just thought it'd be a good pic to post.)

And yes, leaving Blogger behind.

A few thoughts:

Your magazine articles are interesting, but they're not organized by date, so I have no idea what was posted when, and if you've added anything. Something should indicate if there's new content.

Also, when you post a link, it opens within your blog, as opposed to in a new window, which would be preferable.

I would also try to push people to post names or at least code names more often. I think you have some active respondents, and while their true identity can certainly remain private, it'd be nice to know if I'm reading the same individual's opinions all the time.

When someone posts, would it be possible for that post (and the entirety of that particular subject) to be placed first?
In this way, if you opened a topic and someone commented on it five days later, that comment (and subject) would come to the top of your blog. The way the blog is now set up, that comment is buried in the topic of five days ago, a topic few bother to scroll down to, even if the topic is still relevant.Topics of five or ten days ago may have some relevance.
For example: the Mar 2nd. post "The Times Slam Dunks Harvard." If someone were to post a relevant comment today,it would be lost.

Definitely a name other than "Untitled Document". And the title "richardbradley.net" is self-referential but not very useful, since you're already there. Use your real name or something. As for notifying people of new posts, see how my colleague Michael Mitzenmacher does this, with thumbnails at the right. In general the margins are too wide; the appearance shouldn't be crowded, but when reading comments you get VERY little text on the screen at once and too much a newspaper-column look while the computer screen has a landscape aspect ratio. And I, at least, can't read the blog on my cell phone web browser; not sure whose problem that is, but I can read most web sites.

For your sake Rich...you should accept ads. You have a very valuable target audience to the right advertiser. Unless you have a conflict with your day job...
