  Bye-Bye, HMI
The Crimson lands the story:

The University is planning to spin off part of Harvard Medical International (HMI), a major not-for-profit subsidiary of Harvard Medical School, to Partners HealthCare, a non-profit that owns several major Massachusetts hospitals.

...University and Medical School officials involved in the discussions expressed concern that the organization’s activities no longer fully reflected Harvard’s core mission of education and research.

As one reads the Crimson piece, which is full of assertions that this is a good thing for HMI to lose the Harvard name, one can't help but feel that there's a whole lot of spinning going on....

Comments:
how do you feel about the post you wrote a couple of days ago on this matter? sounds as if The Crimson did much better reporting this time. Maybe they just did good journalism, rather than repeat a tip?

I said last week that you should to look at the private equity piece of Partners pension plan...did you follow the lead? Perhaps things can happen in broad daylight because journalists are not as smart as they used to be...just my opinion. Oh, by the way isn't Partners a wholly owned subsidiary of H? Look at the board and all the officers of the hospitals.

When you get through that tell us what the cash will be used for and how this links to intellectual property developed at the university level in the tax-exempt build out of Allston and then were all the money ends up....come on there is a story there Richard if you can follow the bouncing ball.

"On yer bike" as they say in certain parts.
