I stand ready to offer Mrs. Bush solace.

Dude... she had a lesion removed. God willing, it didn't spread any further than that, but all we know is that "it's not big deal," which suggests that it didn't. I don't know what your experience is with skin cancer, but have you ever seen anyone battle melanoma? *That's* what I would call a "skin cancer survivor." I only pray you didn't have to go through that. Millions of Americans have had skin lesions removed. You go into the dermatologist--you might even have to go under the knife--but nine times out of ten, that's the end of it. No different from getting a tooth pulled or an ingrown toenail cut--excruciatingly painful, yes, but it's a one-time deal. It's certainly a lot scarier, but when you put someone who's had a skin lesion removed up against a victim of full-blown melanoma...
Like I said, I don't know what your experience with skin cancer has been, Richard. But "cancer survivor" is a loaded term, and after watching somebody battle full-blown skin cancer for months (and eventually dying), I don't consider Laura Bush to be a "survivor." Technically, yes, but I'll bet that lots of people who have intimate experience with this shit agree with me.
I don't mean to offend anyone or belittle anything, so sorry if I did.
