At Duke, Bad Craziness
While
candidates for district attorney criticize Mike Nifong's handling of the alleged rape, and particularly his media grandstanding,
students and locals criticize the media—not unreasonably, it sounds like to me—and
celebrity lawyer Bob Bennett (Bill Clinton, Judith Miller) has signed on as counsel for some of the lacrosse players involved.
The Duke Chronicle describes the people who hired Bennett as "a group of people close to the Duke lacrosse team." Come on, Chronicle—what the hell does that mean? Parents? Athletic boosters? Alums? It's kind of a big deal, actually....
