  Miers' Nomination: Doomed?
At the very least, it's in serious trouble, and this column by George Will is a hammer blow. What's impressive is the way that Will manages to slam both Miers and the President, beginning with the second graf:

"...There is no evidence that she is among the leading lights of American jurisprudence, or that she possesses talents commensurate with the Supreme Court's tasks. The president's 'argument' for her amounts to: Trust me. There is no reason to...."

Will's column shows not only right-wing dissatisfaction with Miers, but also conservatives' growing frustration with Bush...the cheerleading phase is history.

Hmmm. She's single too. And 60. Must be a lesbian.

George Will is such a wanna-be Bill Buckley it makes me sick. He thinks because he has a nice command of the language he can upstage everyone. Well, you can only pull that but so long. I usually vote Republican, and I hate this guy. Among others, I wish that he and Pat Robertson (disparate conservates but equally unlikeable) were not on my team. He's that guy in conversations who always disagrees with everybody or agrees but makes it clear it's for different reasons; everyone knows that guy, and everyone secretly hates that guy. Can we export him to Iraq to help in the constitution discussions? How long would their new politicians listen to him dispense his wisdom before they shot him. He'd probably tell them how they were holding the gun wrong in the process. Twit.

anon the 2nd really has some issues with george will. why are republicans so harsh? shot? you would like to see this man shot? ouch. ugly.

I'm not usually a fan of George Will, but he really teed off Miers, and I think the column will be influential.

Whoops, make that teed off "on" Miers.

In the words of Chevy Chase in the under-rated Spys Like Us: "Put down your weapons [yes, you Dianne] and I'll bring back the sun." I can forgive someone for not being a fan of hyperbole (clearly I am) but not for an all-out misread, my deary. Republicans might be too harsh, but democrats can be so bloody literal. The best way to combat verbage bullies like Will is with satire.
Best,
Anon II
